Our Vic forklift experts attended the NatRoad Conference 2016 in Cairns last week. Hosted by the National Road Transport Association, the aim of the conference was to provide industry expertise and compliance advice for road transport operators.
With members across every Australian state and territory, the National Road Transport Association represents all road freight operators in the issues that matter most – keeping trucks on the road so your business runs smoothly.
A trip up to sunny and warm Cairns was a welcome relief for our Victorian forklift specialists, who proudly represented us as event sponsors and exhibitors, donating a Karcher cleaner valued at $5,280 to be sold at auction.
The conference covered a huge range of topics and interests, from legal and compliance issues to voluntary accreditation and fuel considerations. The Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) also provided a special presentation about ‘phoenixing’, which costs the economy almost $4 billion per year.
The famous Gala Dinner was one of the highlights of the event, with a host of well-known industry superstars, including Australia’s favourite larrikin, Shane Jacobsen and Darren Flanagan – the explosive expert who masterminded the Beaconsfield miners’ escape. More than 260 attendees saw awards presented for long-standing industry service and heard about the importance of road safety and ensuring a bright future for the industry.
